Does not penetrate and seems it would be more or a paint. So you would want 3 coats of polyurethane on top of it. many people don’t get the color the expect with weathered oak.
I would not say they are the same thing, but they both are a polymerized oil, and might even have a little tung oil in the mix. I like the MTOF better than Watco when I want an oil finish. take more coats to build up my standard finish, and took longer to dry.
